Old Masters & 19th-Century Paintings and Drawings
A personal approach to the Old Masters
Founded by Diederick Poncelin de Raucourt, the gallery specialises in Old Master paintings and drawings, with a particular interest in the Italian Renaissance and the seventeenth century.

Experience and a discerning eye
Active in the art market since 2010, Diederick combines connoisseurship, sustained research and a close understanding of the international market. Major discoveries and participation in TEFAF Maastricht have shaped the gallery’s distinctly personal approach.
Our work begins with the object: its quality, condition, provenance, attribution, historical importance and place within an artist’s practice. Paintings and drawings are examined as individual works, with questions deserving careful investigation.
For a first serious collection
You do not need specialist knowledge to begin collecting. We work with a new generation of collectors, including people from technology, finance and entrepreneurship, whose curiosity may be their starting point.
We explain the questions that matter, discuss works openly and help clients develop their own eye. The aim is to make an intellectually rich field approachable, while keeping the standards that give it depth.
For collectors and institutions
Established collectors and institutions receive the same close, discreet attention: sourcing a particular work, researching an attribution, considering an acquisition or finding the right route for a sale.
The gallery works internationally and receives visitors in Paris by appointment. Every conversation starts with the collector’s interests and the questions raised by the work.
A wider conversation with art
Diederick also founded and publishes La Sélection, the weekly newsletter devoted to paintings and drawings on the auction market. Le Cercle extends this editorial work through a regularly renewed selection of works across the market.
The gallery, newsletter and Le Cercle share one ambition: to encourage discovery through an informed, personal eye.
Every collection begins with a conversation.
